Amy Soucy and Rupert Wates are both New York singer-songwriters who arrived here from different directions. Amy set out from Detroit, where she grew up, to pursue a career in musical theater. While that didn't pan out, it did enhance her performing skills. As she followed a new path as a singer-songwriter, she got a lot of support from the Summersongs musical community. She has also been inspired by her work as a yoga and meditation teacher.
London native Rupert Wates came to New York in 2007 via Paris, where he met his American-born wife. An Oxford graduate, Rupert has created some theater pieces himself. Many of his songs are portraits of performers or people on the margins of society.
